Development Services

If you would like to consult an official zoning map or inquire on zoning standards, start with by consulting resources available on website. Granite Shoals Code of Ordinances is available online, consult Chapter 40 for Zoning.  If you wish to discuss business development, plats or replats, please contact the City Manager's Office at 830-598-2424.

Development Services reviews all plans for residential construction, remodeling, additions, and new commercial and tenant change outs. We provide support for the citizens of the City of Granite Shoals and inspect their construction to make sure it meets minimum building codes.

PROCESS FLOWCHART

For all of your development questions, please email building@graniteshoals.org.

Purchasing Property

Before you purchase a piece of property, you are encouraged to consult with the personnel in the development office to discover any zoning issues that may exist. Also, be aware that existing water service is NOT available at all lots in the City of Granite Shoals but available through water line extensions which will paid for by customers.

Taking time to research all amenities and requirements before you buy can save time and expense.

Building, Renovations or Additions

Planning to build on your property here in Granite Shoals means getting all the required permits. Please call to inquire about which permit(s) are needed for any building, additions, renovations or major repairs. This includes projects such as installing fencing, flat work (sidewalks) or pools, as there are regulations regarding placement of these features. View the Residential Construction Permit Requirements for additional details.  Remember, before you start any project that requires any digging (even planting a tree), you are required to call the City to make sure the water lines are not in the way, as well as calling 811.  This 811 number is for Texas Dig Safe.

Building Permit for Residential Uses

Currently the city has a Residential Building Permit Application for all trades. The application form may be printed out and completed. All permit applications should be submitted electronically. (building@graniteshoals.org) Incomplete set of plans or applications will not be accepted. We accept building permit applications at City Hall between 8:00am - 4:00pm or by email.
