NOTICE OF PROPOSED HERBICIDE TREATMENT

Post Date:04/09/2024 2:08 PM
Herbicide Use Notification:

This is a notice of proposed herbicide use to control 2.5 acres of Eurasian Watermilfoil in the vicinity of 136A-C (30.6289, -98.4147) in the Twin Isles area of Lake Lyndon Johnson. This treatment proposal covers chemical spot treatment of Eurasian Watermilfoil around docks and access shorelines to provide lake access to homeowners. The earliest possible treatment date is 5/15/24, and it is subject to repeated treatments as needed through 8/25/2024.

Jason Chapman has determined that the attached proposed herbicide application is consistent with the principles of integrated pest management and § 57.932(a)(2) of TPWD rules. The proposed application will not exceed the maximum contaminant level of the herbicide in finished drinking water as set by TCEQ and EPA, or if there is no MCL, the maximum label rate.  Operators of public water intakes will be notified in advance of herbicide applications within 2 miles of the intake. All applications will be performed by a TDA-licensed applicator; the license number will depend on applicator scheduling.

Thanks,

Jose Diaz

WHAT THIS MEANS TO YOU:
There is no danger to the public. There could be taste and odor issues if not pre-treated correctly from the dead organic matter that will come down from Highland Haven straight into our intake cove. Operators have been advised and know how to handle this if needed.
